Towards the western end of Main St. is a museum with an international reputation, and a display well worth inspecting. It is the Hahndorf Antique Clock Museum, Australia's largest museum of its type, and a winner of 6 Tourism Awards. It is also the home of the world's largest Cuckoo Clock.
The owner has collected and restored hundreds of old clocks over the years and the museum now houses a collection larger than the British Museum. Diverse and interesting, you can trace the history of clocks back several centuries, including cuckoo clocks from Germany's Black Forest area, music boxes, watches, fobs, and ornamentals.
Open to the public daily from 9.30am. to 5.00pm. there is a small admission charge per adult, with accompanying children aged to 12 admitted free. Group discounts are available.
The museum also buys old clocks suitable for restoration, and can provide Black Forest Cuckoo Clocks and Music Boxes and has a souvenir section.
