Otway Forest near Tanbryn

|
The Otway State Forest is a rainforest area in the Otway Ranges beginning at its eastern end near
Forrest and spreading west behind Apollo Bay and Lavers Hill, down to the tip of Cape Otway.
There are waterfalls, magnificent stands of messmate and manna gums, fern glades, rivers and walking
tracks.
Several noted drives pass through the forest including the Apollo Bay - Forrest Road which leaves the
Great Ocean Road near Skenes Creek, Wild Dog Road, also near Skenes Creek, the Cape Otway Road, Binns Road
(dry weather only) and the Great Ocean Road which passes through the forest between Apollo Bay and Lavers
Hill.
The two most interesting roads through the forest are Sunnyside Road, which leaves the Great Ocean Road
east of Skenes Creek (where the post box is on the corner) and winds for 17km. through farm and dairy
land and the forest, past Mt. Sabine Falls, to join the Apollo Bay - Forrest Road near Tambryn, and the
renowned Turtons Track which leaves this road near Tambryn and leads west to Beech Forest.
Both are good quality loose surface roads with some bitumen.
