The original town of Adaminaby is below the placid waters of Lake Eucumbene. During construction of the massive Snowy Mountains Hydro-electric Scheme of the 1950s, over 100 buildings were moved to the present site to make way for the lake.
A popular venue for anglers there is a fibreglass Big Trout in the town which amazes all. There are 2 significant historic churches moved from the previous site.
