Birthplace of renowned cricketer Sir Donald Bradman, Cootamundra has everal places of interest including his birthplace. Shopping, motels and other accommodation. Lends its name to the famed Cootamundra Wattle (acacia baileyana) subject of a song by John Williamson, and seen around the area in July and August.

Hey it's July and the winter sun is shining
And the Cootamundra wattle is my friend
For all at once my childhood never left me
'Cause wattle blossoms bring it back again.

  • Bradmans Birthplace. 89 Adams St Ph: 2 6940 2160
    Bradman's birthplace is open to the public daily from 9.00am to 5.00pm except Good Friday & Christmas Day.
    Granny Scholz, the mid-wife who delivered "The greatest batsman the world has ever known" Sir Donald Bradman on 27th August 1908, operated a small private hospital in the front room of the building. It was refurbished in 1991, and was carefully restored for the official opening on 23rd October 1992.
    The cottage contains memorabilia of Sir Don, of cricket and of the Cootamundra district.
    Admission to the Birthplace is $3.00 (2009) for adults and children under 16 are free.
    The property next door to Bradman's Birthplace, called Memorabilia Cottage, contains a display of nostalgic curios, bric-a-brac and Australian memorabilia, much of which dates back to the era when Sir Donald Bradman was born.
    The collection is on loan to Council from Peter and Jenny Cash who created the collection over a number of years and have painstakingly taken every opportunity to increase their collection.
