Scone is the second largest thoroughbred horse breeding area in the world and calls itself the 'Horse Capital of Australia'. In May, Horse Week sees a festival with parades and floats, horse sales, racing, and a show which attracts large crowds to the town. Some of the important studs are open for inspection with tours operating by appointment.
Leafy streets, set amongst rolling pastures, make this an attractive town and a pleasant stop along the highway between Muswellbrook and Tamworth. Lake Glenbawn and the Barrington Tops National Park are to the east.

Famous Mare & Foal sculpture at Scone.
