Situated on the Sapphire Coast, between Merimbula and Bermagui, Tathra is well known for its
historic wharf. The Tathra wharf existed before the township was settled. Used extensively
by the towns folk as their only reliable link to the city, the wharf berthed steamers until
the 1950s.
Now the wharf with its restored platform is a favourite for fishing. Upstairs is the maritine
museum, downstairs are craft, seafood and other shops. An ideal, safe family holiday destination, Tathra is a great place to relax. The children can paddle safely at Mogareeka Inlet, the mouth of the Bega River, while the adventurous adults can go diving, fishing, water skiing among many other funfilled options. Take the kids to see the Fairy Penguins and Fur Seals visiting from Montague Island, Taylor's Hydroponic Stawberry Farm or Tathra Forest Wildlife Park. Mimosa Rocks and Bournda National Parks are close by and offer a whole range of activities. PLACES OF INTEREST: ACCOMMODATION & SERVICES: |
