The town of Wellington will be found on the Mitchell Hwy between Orange and Dubbo around 4 hours west of Sydney.
The Wellington Caves are located 8km. south of the town and 1km. off the road. Two caves are open to the public and tours are conducted daily except Chistmas Day. Special educational tours can be arranged and there are a number of native birds and animals in the picnic grounds.
Another popular attraction in the area is Lake Burrendong, 32km. away on the Macquarie River.
The lake is 3.5 times larger than Sydney Harbour and was constructed to control the flow of the river. It now creates an ideal environment for water sports and activities including sailing, fishing, swimming, water-skiing and wind-surfing.
Camping facilities for caravans or tents will be found in the State Recreation Areas, and there is accommodation available.
Poet 'Banjo' Paterson, created the legend of "The Man From Ironbark" and the village of Ironbark, now known as Stuart Town, will be found 32km south-east of Wellington. You can pan for gold and see how the early prospectors and miners lived.
Wellington also has a healthy wine-growing industry and you can sample local vintages at several cellars.

There are plenty of things to see and do in Wellington and a visit to the Information Centre will provide plenty of reading which you can peruse in the beautiful surrounds of Cameron Park which takes up one complete side of the main street.
