Only 20 minutes south of Naracoorte off the Penola-Naracoorte Rd, this wetlands reserve is one of
Australia's most important attracting over 150 species of birds.
Here you can walk across the 500m. Tea Tree Boardwalk to the Ibis Rookery in the heart of the wetland.
Enjoy a self-guided tour through the reeds and rushes on the 1500m. Gunawar Walk. The 700m. Pat-om walk
will take you around the deepest waters of the lagoon to the overflow of the inlet channel which attracts
thousands of waterbirds.
There are several drives. A short drive to the top of Big Hill provides a view over the reserve. Another,
to 'Little Bool Lagoon' along Moyhall Rd will afford an opportunity os seeing the lily ponds and nesting sites
for ibis.
camping in designated areas is encouraged and a permit is available from the self-registering station. You
should bring drinking water and keep an eye out for snakes.
