Small outback town at the centre os a vast cattle area on the Flinders Hwy between Cloncurry and Hughenden.
Named by early settler Duncan MacIntyre who settled on Dalgonally Homestead north of the town in 1862, in honour of actress Julia Matthews of whom he was a great fan. (Ahhh ! Chivalry).
115 km. south is Kynuna where A.B. 'Banjo' Paterson wrote the words to Waltzing Matilda.
