Maroochydore is at the centre of the Sunshine Coast and has famous surfing beaches, cruises on the pretty and navigable Maroochy River with pelicans and swans, and there is a replica of Captain Cook's ship "The Endeavour" just west of town.
Sugar cane fields will be seen all around the town and a short trip to visit Bli Bli Castle with its medieval dungeons and a doll museum, and the nostalgia town, 11km. north east are well worth looking at.
