Kingscote is located on Kangaroo Island and is the largest town on the Island. It is situated on the northern coast of the island with views across Nepean Bay to the mainland.
Kangaroo island and Kingscote was the first settled area of South Australia and established in 1836 before the settlement moved to Glenelg. It was originally known as Queenscliffe. Its early history will be found in the National Trust Museum in Centenary Ave. as will South Australia's oldest cemetry.
Kangaroo Island is reached by air, or by vehicular ferry from Cape Jervis on the Fleurieu Peninsula
