Large national park south east of Adelaide stretching along the coastline and including the Younghusband Peninsula. Motel/hotel at Policeman Point, cabins near Salt Creek. Wilderness and water sports area. Fishing. Store.
The Coorong as the scene for the making of the 1977 film 'Storm Boy', from the book written by Colin Theile.
'Coorong Mullet' are considered a local delicacy and fishing is a popular pastime. There are several National Parks nearby and hundreds of pelicans will be seen.
There is a memorial plaque at Kingston at the south end of the Coorong remembering the 25 survivors of the shipwreck 'Maria' who were murdered by aboriginals along the Coorong.
