The Russell Falls near Fentonbury

Fentonbury is a small town on the road between Westerway and the Mt Field National Park, and Hamilton on the Lyell Highway between Hobart and Queenstown. The area is one of Tasmania's most prolific agricultural regions with various and numerous crops from hops to market vegetables, vineyards and small fruits.
The nearby area is part of the famed Derwent Valley touring region with the Mt Field National Park and the Russell Falls at its heart.
Walks in the Mt Field National Park are popular and there is a snowfield in better seasons. The Russell Falls are reached after a short walk from the ranger station through heavily timbered rainforest. On some weekends a steam train runs from New Norfolk to the park which is 10km south-east of Fentonbury.
Nearby Westerway has a general store, service stations, takeaway food stores and a couple of other shops. B&B accommodation is available.
To the north the historic township of Hamilton has many National Trust classified buildings.
Delightful farm accommodation available in this serene little township.
