Beautiful Lake Rosebery is nearby.

From 1893 when gold was first discovered in Rosebery Creek the beautiful area of Rosebery has flourished. Bakery, shops, accommodation. Mine information-herfitage centre.

Rosebery takes its name from Lord Rosebery who was Prime Minister of England at the time of its founding in 1893 when gold was first discovered in Rosebery Creek. The area west of the town across the creek is named Primrose, after the family name of the Earls of Rosebery. The scenic town has flourished since with a strong mining industry generating work and prosperity for over a century.
On the southern approach you will pass under an aerial cableway with buckets which was used to convey ore from the Hercules Mine to Rosebery. The history of mining in the district can be examined at the Mining Information Centre just off the main street.
There is a large shopping strip in the main street, with most services and some accommodation. A bakery boasts a 24 hour service but I am yet to test it. Excellent fare though.
Nearby the Montezuma Falls are reached by a walking track from the ruins of the old mining town of Williamsford (some loose surface road) or from the highway near Renison Bell. There is an interesting old cemetery on the road into Williamsford.
For golfers there is a fine looking golf course south of the town on the highway and Lake Rosebery is popular with swimmers and for fishing.
Between Tullah and Rosebery the B28 offers and alternative route to Queenstown and passes several lakes including Lake Plimsoll, which has scenic lookouts and great photo opportunities.
