CAMPERDOWN - VICTORIA
Camperdown is on the Princes Highway between Geelong and Warrnambool, and is a turn off point along the highway to the Great Ocean Road.
At the centre of a large volcanic basin in an area known as "Lakes and Craters Country", it is surrounded by large fresh-water lakes which are popular for fishing.
There is an historic museum in the main street and the wide street is separated by a park with a large clock tower at the main junction.
Excellent views over the town and the surrounding plains are available from the Mt Leiura lookout just east of the town. There is an adequate shopping centre and several motels, a caravan park and nearby B&Bs.
