COLAC - VICTORIA
Colac is one of the larger cities along the Princes Highway between Adelaide and Melbourne and is at the centre of the Lakes and Craters country, a reference to the many lakes and volcanic craters in the area. It is also a turning off point for visitors to the Great Ocean Road who can short cut via Colac to the Port Campbell National Park.
There is a major shopping and commercial centre, and a park in the main street where an endurance footrace is held each year. Among the frequent competitors was Cliff Young who, now in his 80's, competed from his farm property behind Colac.
