Between the western boundary of the Otway National Park and the eastern
boundary of the Port Campbell National Park, Princetown is ideally suited for
touring both.
Situated on the La Trobe Ck. near Gellibrand River, the surrounding limestone cliffs contain interesting fossils and formations. Gemstones can sometimes be found along the coastline, and the area is rich in flora and fauna. Foxes, echidnas, wallabies and kangaroos can all be seen, and the nearby Deer and Wildlife Park is well worth a visit. Princetown was named after Prince Albert and was proclaimed in 1885. Camping, caravan and hostel accommodation is available, and new cabins have recently been opened near the township. A 'Big Country' Motel will be found on the road opposite the 12 Apostles, about 8 km. away.
