Exploring The Goldfields.

The Western Highway between Adelaide and Melbourne and the Midland Hwy from Geelong to Benalla pass through the Goldfields Region. the Sunraysia highway from Mildura and Glenelg Hwy from Hamilton and Mt Gambier anso come to Ballarat, so you can reach the goldfields from any direction.

Begin your tour at ballarat, best known of the Goldfields cities and head west to Beaufort then up to Avoca where you turn left onto the Pyreness Hwy to Maryborough. Continue to Carisbrook then north to Maldon and Bendigo. From Bendigo turn south on the Midland Hwy to harcourt and Castlemaine then south to daylesford and hepburn Springs and back to Ballarat.
This route will show you all the maoin attractions of the Goldfields but there are a few important detours along the way.
Just north of Avoca are the Pyrenees wineries and the historic town of St Arnaud. From maldon you can continue north to Bridgewater and enter Bendigo from the eat through Eaglehawk, and from ballarat you can turn south to Steiglitz and the Anakie fairy Park and wineries.
Whishever way you go there is much to see. Take at least a week to see this interesting area.
