Exploring Lakes & Craters Country.

Leave Melbourne west along the Princes Hwy (M1) towards Geelong, 76km. calling in to the Werribee Zoo and mansion along the way. Just east of Geelong and north of the highway are the Serendip Sanctuary, the You Yangs State Park, and a little further north at Anakie one of Australia's best family parks in the Anakie Fairy Park. If you have children on board this is a must.

From Geelong take the Hamilton Hwy across the bridge at Fyansford and you are in Lakes and Craters country. Continue along this highway to Mortlake and turn south along the Hopkins Hwy to Warrnambool and return via the Princes Hwy through Terang, Camperdown and Colac to Geelong.
Places to visit will be found under the individual town listings opposite and area accommodation will be found using the accommodation search at right. For accommodation in individual towns use the Accommodation link at left.
A short detour north from Winchelsea to the Barwon Park Mansion and a stop at the Flagstaff Maritime Museum in Warrnambool are among the highlights of this round tour.
