Beautiful Victorian town north-east of Melbourne with elm-lined streets, a central fountain, parks and amenities including a golf course and comprehensive shopping centre.
The historic preceinct has an old courthouse and other government buildings and there are several wineries in the region.
Gisborne takes its name from Henry Fyshe Gisborne, the Crown Lands Commissioner for the Port Phillip region at the time of its naming in May 1851.
