Giant Wool Bales at Hamilton.

Located in western Victoria between Portland and Horsham ii is the centre for a large wool growing area and at the base of the Grampians National Park which affords tourism opportunities.
Substantial in size, it has many attractions including the Ansett Museum, where the now defunct airline began.
Hamilton claims the title of 'The Wool Capital of the World', a healthy reference to its main industry which is the production of fine wool. Situated around Lake Hamilton, it is a significant town with all facilities. Its proximity to the Southern Grampians make it an ideal spot for touring.
Hamilton is also on the Mary MacKillop Trail (Australia's first saint) and the grave of her father Alexander MacKillop will be found in the Hamilton Cemetery. The Botanical Gardens are set in 4 hectares of undulating land off French St. and there is a fine 18 hole golf course to the east of the town on the Glenelg Hwy. Bandicoots will also be seen at the golf course and along the banks of the Orange Burn.
There are many historic buildings to see and visit, and the Reginald Ansett Transport Museum will be found on the shore of Lake Hamilton. Ansett built up a national transport company and international airport from humble beginnings with one vehicle in Hamilton.
Nearby the Wannon and Nigretta Falls are a pleasant place to visit, and there are frequent horse racing meetings.
