Medium sized town and the first major one into Victoria from South
Australia along Highway 8. 2 motels, hotels, information centre and a reasonably
sized shopping centre. Agricultural area. On the Western Highway, just across the Victorian border from South Australia, Kaniva is the centre of the Kaniva Shire and an important touring centre for the Little Desert National Park. Kaniva Historical Museum: Rotary Fauna Park: A well equipped Information Centre will be found at the western end of town near the big windmill. Cafe tables are set on the footpath and toilets and facilities are nearby. There is a car museum featuring Holden Monaros, and a General Museum, and you can visit the National Trust listed historic railway station and the Customs House at nearby Serviceton.
