Kyneton is the capital of the Macedon Ranges Shire, an area of plentiful forests,
rivers, mineral springs and rich volcanic soils. like many Victorian towns it was founded on
the discovery of gold. Cobbled footpaths and historic buildings reflect Kyneton's heritage as one of Victoria's oldest towns. Bluestone buildings, and a range of products ranging from wool spinning, fine china and assorted crafts along with colourful gardens, monthly markets, fine restaurants and several pubs give the village great charm, and there are several wineries nearby open for tastings and sales.
