Surrounded by the Croajingalong National Park and at the entrance to a lakes system, Mallacoota
is a popular holiday destination. The closest town to the New Sout Wales border to the east,
it attract s holiday-makers from New South Wales as well as Victoria. The National Park include Point Hicks, the first part of eastern Australia to be sighted by Europeans. Surf beaches and fishing the inland waterways are amongst the pastimes at Mallacoota, and there is adequate accommodation and a reasonable sized shopping centre.
