Merbein is located around half way between Mildura and Wentworth and is an ideal place to tour the Sunraysia district from.
Surrounded by vineyards this town and district is the largest producer of currants and raisins in Australia. Many grapes are also used for wine production.
Being only a 10 minute drive from Mildura and Wentworth it offers all the conveniences of these two cities without the hustle and bustle, or the expense.
Merbein has its own well stocked shopping centre.
Things to do include swimming and fishing in the Murray and Darling Rivers, play the pokies at Wentworth and Coomealla. These two big clubs are only a short drive away, and have restaurants and other facilities, golfing at one of sevaral quality courses in the area, take a river cruise on a paddleboat, take a balloon flight over the town, and much, much more.
In Mildura there are many historic buildings, parks, carnivals, hot air balloon flights, and the Golden Rivers Zoo is closer to Merbein than it is to Mildura.
