Mortlake is at the heart of what was once known as 'Lakes and Craters Country', in recognition
of the vast number of lakes and volcanos around the plains of central western Victoria. The town is under the shadow of Mount Shadwell and a display of volcanic 'bombs' created at its last eruption will be seen in a shop in the main street. There is an historic precinct along the eastern entry to the town and most faciities will be found including a swimming pool and golf course. Clarke's pies are made here, so if you are looking for a traditional Aussie pie, call in to the shop in the main street. PLACES OF INTEREST:
