One of Victoria's best known towns, mainly because of the internationally famed 'Stawell Easter Gift' foot race, held each Easter. It is also a popular accommodation centre for visitors to The Grampians National Park which is only 25km. away.
Stawell began as a mining town and is one of the few places in the country which still has a working gold mine. Tours of the observation points are conducted and the open cut area is spectacular in size. From Pioneer Hill there is a wonderful view across the town to The Grampians, and the Information Centre located on the Western Highway will give you a list of things to do which could occupy several days.
