Main street of Toora.

Toora is a small town in the South Gippsland area 13km east of Foster and a centre for touring the spectacular Wilsons Promontory National Park and the nearby Agnes Falls.
Several national parks are nearby including the Tarra Bulga National Park, the Corner Inlet Marine Park is only 1 kilometre south of the township and has a well concealed bird hide from which to view the many species which will be found in the park.
The small township has an adequate shopping centre, including a post office, bank and a pub. there are a dozen or so specialty shops and a supermarket. at the southern end of the main street a small park has picnic and BBQ facilities, toilets, and a lonely sign saying 'Toora Railway Station' on a disused platform besides which the tracks have been removed.
It is a bit sad really. Who remembers the great days when you could take an affordable train to nearly any town in the country ? One of the newer features around Toora is the wind farm comprising 6 generators which overlooks the town.
