COCKLEBIDDY - >WESTERN AUSTRALIA
Cocklebiddy is located on the Eyre Highway between Adelaide and Norseman, and lies between Madura and Calguna on the northern fringe of the Nuytsland Nature Reserve, and around 30km. (20 miles) from the Southern Ocean and Great Australian Bight. There are beautiful beaches and spectacular scenery where the beaches meet the cliffs of the Bight. A 4WD is required to reach the observatory and beach.
It is famous for the series of water-filled, underground caves which are the longest navigable cave series in the world.
There is a well recognised bird observatory in the reserve and Mallee Fowl can be seen. The observatory is administered by the Royal Ornithological Society Union.Cocklebiddy is a pleasant stopover on the long trip across the Nullarbor Plain.
