COOLGARDIE - WESTERN AUSTRALIA
Located 170km. north of the junction of the Eyre Hwy from South Australia and the Coolgardie - Esperance Hwy, Coolgardie is the the turn off point for visitors to Kalgoorlie-Boulder, and the Great Eastern Hwy to Perth, or the inland route via Leonora to Meekatharra or the Gunbarrel Hwy to Ayers Rock (usually 4WD only).
Once a booming gold town with a population of over 15,000, it is now more of a service town for travellers along the highways.
many of the buildings in the wide main street are much as they were during the gold rush and there is a museum at the railway station.
