In the heart of Jarrah country, this old timber town is classified by the National Trust in 1977.
Jarrah is a Western Australian hardwood used for the making of sturdy furniture. My brother, who lives in Perth, makes work benches and other furniture from Jarrah at Workbench World, which are in demand all over the world.
Historic buildings include a mill managers house, nurses quarters and hospital, the general store (pictured opposite), the single mens quarters, Gianatti store, taverns churches, the post office and other buildings.
During WW 11, a POW camp was located outside the town.
