Small town on the coast near Augusta which takes its name from the large Karri forests surrounding it. It was established as a timber mill in 1884 and, in its heyday, employed over 300 men with their families. Timber was transported by rail to Hamelin Bay for shipment until 1900 when a severe storm destroyed the jetty.
