Small town on the Hunter River 10km east of Maitland in the Hunter Valley.
Noted for the number and variety of art and craft shops and the colonial facade of its main street, it is an ideal touring centre for the Hunter Valley and Port Stephens regions.
Morpeth has many festivals throughout the year and there should always be something on when you visit. In May the Morpeth Jazz Festival combines fine food and wine with solid music and special steam trains operate from Sydney to bring visitors. The Morpeth Teapot, Teddy Bear and Investment Art Festivals, Heritage Month, and the Morpeth Fiery food and Morpeth Honey Festival are all popular and well supported events.
Morpeth also has a diverse industrial background. Major national companies including Soul Pattinson, Arnott's and Brambles all had their foundations in Morpeth.
The Courthouse Museum records the history and development of this pretty riverside town and is well worth a visit.

Morpeth is surrounded by the wineries of the Hunter Valley
