Condamine is located 30km south of Miles on the meandering Condamine River, well-known for its excellent fishing. The town was evacuated twice in 10 days during January 2011 as the rains continued and caused flash floods. The first flood peaked at 13.2 metres (43 ft).
Condamine is famous for the invention of the Condamine, or Bullfrog Bell which was hung from the necks of working bullocks to help stockmen locate their cattle when left to roam and graze. Stockmen were even able to determine the distance of a bullock by the sound of its bell. A plaque with an inscription explaining its history will be found on the large replica bell in Bell Park.
There is a small hotel and an old-style Trucker's roadhouse. The Roma to Brisbane gas pipeline passes to the south of Condamine and there are two gas compression facilities to the east.
