The Calder Hwy between Bendigo and Mildura, and the Loddon Valley Hwy both pass through this area.
Wide open spaces with rolling wheatfields are the main feature and there are many quiet spots beside the rivers to stop and rest as you explore the region.
The Loddon Valley provides a look at typical rural Australia. Small communities going about their daily business, service towns with verandahed streets, Rotary and Lions Club parks adding facilities for travellers, and an assortment of takeway food shops, coffee shops, local art and craft shops, and a few well preserved buildings make up a fascinating area.
