EXPLORING SOUTH GIPPSLAND.

Take the freeway east of Melbourne to Dandenong to arrive at the beginning of the South Gippsland region.
You can either continue east through the Latrobe Valley and the towns of Warragul, Moe, Morwell and Traralgon to Sale where you turn south onto the South Gippsland Hwy and return along the highway through Yarram, Toora, Foster, Leongatha, Korumburra and Cranbourne, or turn south at Dandenong and do the round trip the other way.
You should take a detour from Korumburra or Leongatha to visit Inverloch and Wonthaggi which will take you past the bridge across to Phillip Island at San Remo.
You will also pass the turn-off to Wilsons Promontory at Foster. (See separate article).
Don't miss the Tarra Bulga National Park near Traralgon or Yarram, Coal Creek Historic Village at Korumburra, and the lakes area around Sale.
