Headquarters of the Bridgetown - Greenbushes Shire on the Blackwood River 267km south east of Perth. Settled in 1857 it is a farming region producing vegetables and fruit.
The town was first settled in 1857 and a road was constructed by convicts from Donnybrook in 1861. There was a goldrush to the area from 1892 and the new prosperity led to construction of many significant buildings.
Places to visit include the Jigsaw Gallery and Museum, (a collection of jigsaws,) wineries of the Margaret River Region,
