Historic and attractive town on the Avon River dating back to the 1830s. The whitewater Avon Descent Race is held over 133km of the river each year and there are historic buildings and scenic drives.
The area was first explored in 1830 and settled in 1833.
Hot air ballooning and cellar door tours are among the popular activities around Northam. There are museums, cafes, hotels and restaurants to visit and much to see around the area.
