THE GOULBURN VALLEY

The Goulburn River is one of Victoria's largest rivers and flows from the alpine region near Lake Eildon to the River Murray near Echuca. It passes through some of Victoria's most fertile countryside and is noted for the production of stone fruit, grapes and vegetables for the Melbourne and national market.
There are many wineries around Heathcote which have cellar doors and there is a rich history in many of the towns along the way.
The Lake Eildon region in the east of the Goulburn Valley offers a wonderful holiday opportunity with its proximity to the Alpine- High Country and the large lake at its centre.
Attractions in the area are listed under the individual towns on the Towns Menu at right.
